5 Minutes With… Nick Blackmore

5 minutes with…’ is our interview series where we speak to employees at Moorgate and gain a deeper understanding of their roles and how they got to where they are today.

Today we have Nick Blackmore, our Marketing Director.

How did you get to your current role?

I have always worked in marketing, or at least for a very long time! Before I started my role at Moorgate, I worked for a property developer/investor, where my role was to attract new investors to the business. Before that I was at the Northampton/Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce, where I worked for 8 years. This role was all about growing the membership base and increasing the interest in the organisation. I joined Moorgate as Head of Marketing in 2023 and then after a year in the role I was promoted to Marketing Director!

What is a typical day like for you?

I’m an early starter so I like to get through all my admin before the rest of the staff arrive for work, meaning I’m free to do the day job! My day usually focuses around planning marketing campaigns across our various business sectors, and then I spend a lot of time narrowing down views on our database so the sales team can follow these campaigns up efficiently with a phone call.

What is your biggest achievement?

I think we have made decent strides with the quality and quantity of our data, and this is the foundation of our marketing strategy. We have also managed to make a significant improvement on the visibility of Moorgate Finance, as evidenced by the increased number of inbound enquiries we receive.

What is the most challenging aspect of your role?

Just not enough hours in the day sometimes! That and Annie.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

Making the sales team’s jobs easier! I love when they phone a customer for the first time and they’ve actually heard of us. I get very excited when we get an inbound enquiry for a new business too.

If you could sum up Moorgate in three words, what would they be?

Supportive, energetic, diligent.

Which finance sector are you interested in?
How much would you like to borrow?
