A single malt whisky distillery in the centre of Edinburgh is due to open today.
Holyrood Distillery is the first distillery in the whisky industry to open in almost 100 years.
The distillery has also launched bookings for its tour experiences, all of which focus on exploring flavour.
The first tour of the distillery will take place today, Tuesday 30 July, and will be a memorable occasion for the capital.
As the last operational single malt distillery in central Edinburgh, The Edinburgh Distillery, closed in 1925.
Holyrood Distillery will produce single malt whisky, as well as a range of gins and gin liqueurs.
It’s central location, located on the edge of Holyrood Park, will see many tourists attracted to the venue.
The distillery has a team of workers lined up, in total the project has already created 30 new jobs.
The founder Rob Carpenter first had the idea for a distillery and visitor experience in central Edinburgh back in 2013.
Rob said: “Its been an incredible journey to get to this point, and to be able to bring back single malt whisky back to the heart of Edinburgh for the first time in almost 100 years.
“A big thank you is also owed to our neighbours who have been patient with the build over the past year.”
